Cape Town Explorer

South Africa

In just 4 days, you’ll go from catching the mountain-top views (from a cable car) to exploring the nooks and crannies of Cape Town’s streets with a local guide. But that’s not all. You’ll also learn all about Apartheid, take a South African cooking class, taste authentic wine, and even kayak with penguins! It’s just one city, but it’ll keep you satisfied for days.

DAY 1: Cape Town

Buckle up, explorers. Our adventure through South Africa’s shining capital begins today. Drop your bags off at the hotel where you’ll meet your Trip Manager & Contiki fam. Tonight, we'll grab walkabout dinner. Spend some time with your new crew. Eat your heart out (and catch some sleep!). We've got a full day of exploring tomorrow.

DAY 2: Cape Town

Morning! It’s time to leave your breakfast table for another one. Today we’re riding a cable car to the very top of Table Mountain! After that, we’ll explore Cape Town’s hotspots (with a local guide, ofc). You’re free to spend the rest of the day however you like. How about visiting V&A Waterfront? Or taking a township tour to learn more about the Apartheid period? Whatever you do, don’t forget to save some space in your tummy for a MasterChef-style cooking class that you definitely wouldn’t wanna miss.

DAY 3: Cape Town

Wanna take advantage of Cape Town’s coolest local excursions? Today’s the day. You can choose to ride along the scenic cliffs of Chapman’s Peak, all the way down to south-western tip of Africa (AKA Cape Point). And then, we'll stop off at Boulders Beach to admire a colony of adorable African penguins - with a chance to go kayaking with them too! What next? How 'bout wine tasting (with a view) to round off an incredible day?

DAY 4: Cape Town

It’s time to say goodbye, but not before one final breakfast with your crew. Do we wanna leave Cape Town? Nope. But do we have another awesome destination waiting for us? Definitely. So, don't forget to keep in touch for a brand new adventure!

Translating ‘Itinerary Jargon’ on a Coach Tour!

If you've ever booked a coach tour and felt baffled by the terms visit, view, and see in the itinerary, you're not alone! These words might sound similar, but they have specific meanings when it comes to planning your travel experience. Visit means you'll get to explore the location fully, with time to wander, take photos, or enjoy activities there. View typically involves seeing the site from a distance or on a quick stop, often without disembarking the coach. See generally refers to a passing mention or glimpse of the location during your journey. Understanding these terms helps set expectations and ensures you make the most of your adventure!
